We booked Peter as our guide for a 2 week trip to South Africa, traveling from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, via the Garden Route and back through the Karoo. We found Peter to be knowledgeable, well-prepared, with a great sense of humor. He tailored the trip to meet our particular interests. He has a great eye for value in both accommodations and restaurants. He was quite flexible and had options for us if we changed our minds or the weather didn’t cooperate. Most importantly, by the end of the trip, we thought of him as a new-found friend. We certainly would (and have) recommended Peter and would certainly book with him again. I went on a township tour with Peter a couple of weeks ago. What an amazing experience! Not only was Peter extremely helpful, he was also very knowledgeable and has amazing insight. Peter has a unique relationship with all the people that we met on tour, and he is very well-known in the areas we visited. My girlfriend and I were given an expert tour of the township and Red Location Museum a week ago. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Peter is a fountain of knowledge on the surroundings and history of Port Elizabeth and some of its disadvantaged people. His insight into the reasons behind the Red Location Museum and some of the incredible ‘easter eggs’ he pointed out on our visit were truly remarkable and gave us both a far greater understanding of and appreciation for the city of Port Elizabeth. Thanks Peter for a truly mind-altering experience! We would highly recommend the Township Tour to anybody interested in learning more about the daily trials and tribulations of the less fortunate and of the amazing hurdles they have overcome. I went on the PE to Addo Park tour with Peter the Friday before doing the Iron Man and it was hands down the best guided tour I have ever been on. Peter’s knowledge of everything from the history of the area and country to the behavior of the animals was extensive. He was happy to answer all of our questions throughout the drive and I finished the day full of interesting facts and beautiful pictures of elephants and other wildlife at Addo Park. A perfect afternoon.

I am in the middle of a Cape Town to PE Garden Route tour with Peter Joseph, and we are having a great time, seeing the sites that interest me, staying at affordable but comfortable B&Bs and eating well. His knowledge of the history of the country is a great help as I try to put perspective to everything I am seeing and learning, and of course his expertise extends to every place we are visiting. Peter was an excellent guide to the Garden Route on the Cape Town to Port Elizabeth tour, 22-27 April 2012. He devised an itinerary based on his extensive knowledge of the region and his sense of my interests, and so our tour developed as we travelled. He selected some unique places to stay and provided some fun stopovers for meals and tea-breaks. He also found some wonderful forest and beach walks for me and somehow managed to organise the weather so that we had sunny days, rare rain showers at night and some stunning sunsets too. Of course, the Garden Route has an endless supply of natural beauty, interesting history and architecture, and things to do, so Peter had good material to work with. I am sure he could just as readily have catered for the interests of inveterate shoppers, night clubbers or golfers, so I recommend you check with Peter when you are planning the next trip on your wish list. – Margaret Kimber

J’ai passé un week-end extraordinaire à East-London avec Peter. Cette ville et ses alentours sont fabuleux. Entre la mer et la brousse, entre le centre historique et la vie nocturne, l’activité est sans arrêt. Surtout avec un guide formidable qui nous plonge au coeur de la culture locale et du bouillonement Sud-Africain! Braai délicieux, soirées festives, musées passionants, paysages à couper le souffle… Bref, un enrichissement culturel que je n’oublierai pas. Lekker!

We had a lovely weekend in Port Alfred and along the Sunshine Coast with Peter. Personally, it was my first time in this area and it’s been a wonderful surprise: Stunning beaches, a royal golf, many peaceful and lovely rivers, some friendly people and a fantastic guide… The perfect cocktail for a succesful weekend! Hi I would just like to share my experience of the Flowers of Namaqualand tour. I have never been on a guided tour before and when a friend of mine told me about this tour I was not sure whether it is something that I would enjoy, but after arriving back yesterday I have to admit my first tour with S A Guided Tours but God willing not the last! The tour was awesome, the guides Frank and Peter fantastic! Peter has a great knowledge and Frank has a wonderful future ahead as a tour guide, I can recommend anyone wanting to make a dream come true to see the sight of this wonderful part of our country with the nature astounding you with the variety of flowers blooming only once a year – do not miss out, S A Guided Tours take you to places you have never heard of and they go the extra mile to make your holiday special and I want to thank both Peter and Frank for making my holiday one to remember – AMANDA KEMP

 

Just want to thank you (Alan McWilliam) again, on the 14^th Feb, myself and Keeley had booked a tour through Tripadvisor on a Pete Giddy tour. We met you at the main gates of Port Elizabeth Cruise terminal and you explained about Pete and then took us under your wings and took us on a tour.

You made our day, especially as it could have been a disaster. We had a magically day and have some wonderful photos and memories now. Paul and Keeley (February 2024).
